No Nursing experience resumes

Published

Hello,

I am a new LPN Graduate and I really need help writing a resume with no experience in the medical field except my school clinicals....Can someone help me with ideas?

The resume books that I have read said that someone in your position should utilize your clinical experiences instead of the missing jobs. Be careful to indicate that they are clinical and not paid work. You could find these books in the library to get some help with examples. There was one that I read that was specific for healthcare and only cost about $16 at the bookstore. Worth the expenditure. Also, since you are an LPN, you can apply for jobs where an application is required and a resume is optional, to get around the resume task. I have not had one LVN job in about 20 years that did not require an application instead of a resume. HTH

hi there.

just wanted to share that i used my clinical experience as "educational experience" on my resume. like you, i had no experience in nursing.

it also helps to write a cover letter.

use resume paper (white).

Show up in person. It really makes a difference.

dont focus on your lack of experience. try to talk about on your willingness to learn

dress appropriately, and make a great first impression to everyone. Everyone is watching.

good luck on your job search.

When I was a new grad with no experience, I didn't bother to include my clinical experiences on my resume. My resume simply included a few of my previous non-nursing jobs (3 years as a factory worker, 8 months as a direct care staff member, and 1.5 years as a grocery store cashier). Hiring managers were able to read my resume and quickly glean that I was a new nurse with no experience.

I found a job the day after receiving my temporary license.
