I passed back at the beginning of Jan and have been waiting for my March graduation date to get here. It's coming but I think I'm so burnt out that I just don't care about anything else. I hardly have picked up a NCLEX book and now have doubts over pursuing nursing in general. I was going to hop into the RN-BSN program in May but after hours and hours of research, I'm not doing that either- I'm going to get my BS online in another health related field just to have a BS.
I think the past 2 months of work has really bummed me out. I don't have the right supplies to do my job, I have way too many patients to handle (LTC), my administration is never happy, everyone passes their work on because they are lazy and I'm picking up the slack. Does it get better as a RN in a hospital or will it be the same politics all over again but with more responsibility? There is also a lack of job prospects around here and that is also worrying me. I'm having an OFF day- sorry for the rant.
Please share your positive experiences :-)

Change,
I can so relate! I have stuggled to study for the NCLEX because I am so burnt out and the CPNE and the whole interviewing process weighing me down. Nursing is my heart and I think you just need to take a little mental break and get over the NCLEX hump. That is weight on your shoulders. I think you will get over your funk. I recommend getting the BSN at a later date. There is no way I want to see any more school at this moment. I think its fine to take a break and live your life. Good Luck with the job hunt. It can be very depressing out their with the slim pickings.

Hang in there, Change ... there is such an emptiness after all the CPNE study, and then WHAM -- you're suddenly done. I remember being at kind of a loss after that, and it was tough getting motivated to study for NCLEX. But once I got that ATT in my email, I kicked it back into gear! Hopefully you'll be able to get motivated when you receive your ATT. I'm sure you're frustrated being in the same job after such a huge success as the CPNE. I remember having to go back to work as an ER tech for more than a month after finishing the CPNE, and boy did it annoy the stuff out of me.

I can totally relate. I work in acute care, but we are short staffed and everyone is burned out. We have A LOT of brand new nurses on nights and they are really trying and will be great, but they leave a lot for days because they just don't have time management down. I always come in with stuff to catch up on and stay behind all day. We have scheduled overtime which is very tiring and some of the RN's still act like I am a "lowly" LVN. I am very proud of my LVN and GN!! I haven't picked up an NCLEX book and it has been a month since passing CPNE. And...EC is killing me with the length of time it takes to process paperwork! I can work as GN the day it posts on BON (TX) and make more. That would probably help tremendously!!!
Just hang in there... at least we never have to take the CPNE again:)

Well, atleast you are over the hump of the CPNE I still have that hurdle to get over. I can totally relate I have not even started studying yet. I just can't get motivated with working full-time in an acute care setting I am burnt out by the time I get home. Hang in there, you came this far PLEASE don't give up now. Hey, when you are an RN maybe you can move to another floor that's not that hectic I know that's what I plan on doing.

If it makes you feel better - as the previous poster stated - at least you're done with the CPNE. I'm staring at the manual & am so overwhelmed I'm thinking of going to cc route - even though I've taken every exam but the CPNE. Re your job - pray - it can't hurt.
