No Money to take NCLEX...........

I am Registered Nurse here in Philippines as of June 2007..Im planning to take cg and NCLEX..I dont want to involve myself in any agency here,...Any idea how much money would it cost to take this exams???let's say my state is CA or texas:specs:???

Each state will have their own requirement for licensure and fees so really can get price from their websites. Same goes for pearsonvue, fees can be found on their site plus taking it overseas there is an extra fee but again will be on their website. You do not need an agency but better to decide where you want to live, apply to state but remember we do not recommend Ca for initial licensure and much has already been written on here about that, meet requirements pass NCLEX then look for an employer but realise with retrogression many hospitals are now delaying taking on foreign trained nurses

thanks for the quick reply...Is oNly CA had that policy??what if I passed there exams, how many yrs do you think I will be able to get there??How about Texas???Would you recommend states that have a fastest process when it comes to deploying foreign nurses??

Ca has the policy of not issuing a license without SSN (there are some other states also) but they will cancel your file if you do not provide SSN within 3 years, a few have posted that they was able to get an extension for 12 months but they may not do that indefinitely. Also with retrogression and looking at over 5 years currently for a visa it is no good looking for a state with fast processing as makes no difference, once you find an employer and approval of I140 you are affected by retrogression. May as well take the time to research

Licensure has nothing to do with immigration. Even if you pass the NCLEX exam, but have no visa that will permit you to work, you will not be able to use the license here.

You are looking at five years at the earliest for a chance at a green card, it is definitely not guaranteed.

Texas actually has a few facilities that offer the H1-C visa, but would never advise going that route as we do not even know if that will remain in place more than the next two years or so. And if it gets cancelled, then you will be required to leave the US if there are no green cards avaiable and we do not expect any for much past that time.

would recommend that you focus on going to another country and get adequate experience as an RN first.

hmmnnn.... are you suggesting not to take nclex at this time?? or i should process my papers and at the same time look for a jod to gained experience with?

and there's one more thing.. Is vermont and new mexico doesn't require SSN# to be licensed there??

aND i THINK there are thousands of foreign nurses who passed the NCLEX but still not able to work in the US because of waiting in their visas,,

Im RN here as of aug 2008 yet Ive never start practicing because of my pregnancy...Maybe i'll start after I gave birth maybe in Nov..Ive planned to gain TWo yrs exp.here THEN after I will take NCLEX??Do you think Its advisable to take on that time???Do you think its too late because of thousands of nurses waiting their visas??If ever I passed how many yrs is the maximum I will wait In able to work in the US??Is that true that the retrogression maybe lift this 2009??

No one knows what is going to happen after the elections. At current processing times for the Philippines on 2002 and this last couple of months have moved forward a month at a time so still looking at over 5 years as you haven't started the process yet

Even if anything changes after the elections, there are still so many ahead of you that are waiting, that it is going to be almost impossible to get a visa in the next few years as it goes by country of birth.

Those that were born in countries that do not have that many applicants will have an easier time of getting a visa, that is just the way that things are right now.

Right now, there are no visas. Licenses are only valid for two years and need to be renewed. I would recommend going to another country and getting experience there. If you do not have the money for the exams, would not take them at this time or even consider them at this time.

I agree with Suzanne. Passing all exams and having an employer doesn't guarantee of getting to US. Even if an employer has already filed for our papers and yet we have no choice but to wait and go to other country where we could find better income while waiting or to have better opportunity for our career, future and for our family.

And if you qualify getting a job on other open countries, take it because they might also close sooner or later like what happened with UK wherein they prefer EU nurses.

God Bless you all fellow nurses. Don't give up, be strong and try to check on other opportunites around us. It surely be hard but as they say "BIG DREAMS MEANS BIG WORK!"

Nobody really knows what will happen to this retrogression issues. Moderators are here to clear up things and provide relevant informations but be aware that they too are not 100% accurate (No offense meant moderators). Nobody can really tell whats ahead,things might be too tight right now as discussed by our moderators but who knows (just even a small fraction or even a .0001% hope) things will get better. Who knows Schedule A will be back soon or other options will be there for nurses again. Just a glimpse of hope... but hey...nobody really knows...

im inspired of what you have said..we nurses i believe has all the opportunities here and abroad it's just that we have to find for it and work very hard for it.. lets just help each other especially in this website.an d lets pray hard for our future..
