Hello everyone!
I am applying to work as a nurse in Ireland. I passed my IELTS recently and have started with my NMBI registration. I am currently waiting for my application pack. However, my real concern (and worry) is about my current area of practice. I am assigned in OB-Gyne ward & Nursery for the past two years and apparently, no agencies are considering my application because of my area. I do have experience in a Medical ward and some special areas back in the Philippines but I think some agencies only consider the recent experiences . No matter how much I want to be transferred to other areas, I guess its impossible coz we are currently understaffed in this area and our nurse manager wont allow me to. So my question is,
1. Do you think some employers will consider me even if they dont have vacancies in my current area, as long as I have experience in some other areas which was two years ago?
2. Would it be okay if I just try to modify my CV and place a different area instead? Maybe it would increase my chance of getting employers/agencies to help me out. My current hospital is a 350-bedded tertiary hospital here in KSA and they dont place any area of assignment in COE's, only the hospital and salary details..
3. Do employers in Ireland call and ask professional references about their prospect's current areas of assignments?
and for those who are applying to ireland now and have their employers already, can you suggest me on what to do? Im nearly giving up because of this. I am aware that getting my DL wouldnt guarantee me an employer. So i really am worried and needs encouragement should i try a nursing home instead? Or they do require experience also in a specific area? Your comments and advices would be highly appreciated!!
