Hi! I would use the study guide strictly for review; hopefully you have already been familiarized with the material through your pre- and co-req courses (with the exception of physics).
An composite score of 100 is average; standard deviations are in increments of 20. The community college program which I applied to looks strictly at percentiles: composite, verbal, math, and science. You are being compared to large group of previous test-takers; your score reflects how well you did in comparison to their scores.
I scored pretty well :)
The test questions are similar but not necessarily the same. But you get a good idea of the wording and style of questions that will be on the exam. More than anything, I would recommend working quickly because there are more questions per section than the review guide has in its practice exams.

hey ! i just took the nln pax at farmingdale this past saturday (1/22). i was so nervous about it after reading so many posts on here saying how hard it is, but it wasn't as bad as i thought ! i used the nln pax review book and i studied like crazy the week before the test.
for the verbal part, there weren’t many vocabulary words on the test that were in the review book. that part is hard to study for because there are just too many vocabulary words to learn haha.
the math part of the test was exactly the same as in the review book. i barley remembered how to do anything with decimals and fractions without a calculator when i started reviewing, but the book really helped me alot. just remember you only get an hour to do 54 questions so if you can’t figure out a question just skip it and go back to it if you have time at the end.
the science part also wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be. there was definitely more chem/physics than bio/anatomy but it’s all covered in the review book.
just make sure you do all the practice questions in the review book and you’ll be fine. the actual test has 80 verbal, 54 math, and 80 science questions and you get 1 hour for each section. i took the computerized version and you are able to check your score as soon as you get home. the test report is scored a little weird, i ended up getting a 149 composite score (not even sure what this means haha). they also give you a score for each individual subject. i remember the instructor said any score under 77 for verbal, and 80 for math and science would get an automatic rejection letter.
just do all the questions in the review book and you’ll do fine ! if you have any other questions let me know! good luck!

I took the PAX last week I used the NLN study guide I scored a 128 the vocabulary was basically all that I used the book for and to review some of my sciences seeing as I haven't taken most of them since high school. Good luck everyone and congrats to those who scored well on the exam
