NJCU Accreditation Question

Posted

Hello! I recently applied to NJCU Accelerated BSN program. I know that it's not accredited yet and was comfortable with applying because I knew that would not pose an issue with licensure. However, I recently read online that it is impossible/difficult to get an advanced degree if your BSN did not come from an accredited program. Is there anyone that has continued education after attending a BSN program that was accredited? Or any NJCU ABSN alums?

Hey! I was at the Open House in December and the ABSN program is actually accredited by the Accreditation Commission for the Education in Nursing (ACEN) formerly known as NLNAC.

TheCommuter posted an article explaining ACEN in 2014

https://allnurses.com/online-nursing-schools/i-completed-a-912463.html

"The two major entities that nationally accredit nursing programs in the United States and its territories are the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (formerly known as the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education."

So don't worry! It's accredited :)

Best of luck! I hope you get accepted

Oh wow, thanks a lot for the info tinemarie! I had no idea. The last open house I went to at NJCU was two years ago. Great to know :)

I'm at njcu and I never heard anything about them not being accredited. Where did you hear such a thing?
