I am going to school to become an RN, and the Nicu is my area of intrest. I am curious to know how much are RN's hourly wages in the NICU.

[starting hrly wages].

Depends where you are, years expereince, ect. There is a site you can look this up on, but I forget it. Maybe someone else knows

Its the same. Hospitals *mostly* (every time in my experience) pay the same rate across the board for new grads in any unit. The difference in pay comes with experience, not particular to the unit you work, ICU, or not.

A good site that I have found with different occupations/average salary/duties is http://www.bls.gov. You can also go on there find your state or maybe area and see the salary. I am not sure how accurate it is but I think it is pretty close. Hope this helps. bbrown

I also concur that new grad wages are generally the same in regards to department - I suppose they might vary depending on the type of degree, but that's a whole other can of worms I don't want to open up!

Anyway, here's another site that might shed some light: http://www.salary.com. You can enter your area, and they can give you percentile averages for RN salaries.

Hope this helps!

The NICU nurses do not make anymore than any other area in the hospital. It is based on years of experience. We do get a $3/hr diff. if we are certified in our specialty.
