Hi - I was wondering if first taking a peds/neonatal homecare orientation and job would be helpful to eventually obtaining a NICU position. It seems that there is intense competition for NICU positions in my area, in the major university hospitals and childrens' hospitals, and I'd really like to work in the hospital NICU. (I have only worked adult med/surg, adult home health and adult case mgmt, and it seems I'm not being considered.) However, I've been offered in-home peds shifts (following few day orientation of course), with various agencies, and training/orientation for the in-home shifts w/vent clients). Thanks for advising!
