Hello, im driving myself insane please help!

About 6 months ago I was handling a newborn who was bleeding, when I washed up I noticed a small cut on my wrist. I did not think I had reason to worry because I only used my gloved hands to examine the baby.Fast forward to today (6 months later) , I had a blood test done and it came back positive for hep c !!! I had a second test done and Im still awaiting the results.

The newborn is negative for hcv , I have no idea how I could have gotten this?

Is a false positive possible?

I understand that im just asking if anyone has any experience with false positives.

If the newborn was negative, why do you think you got it from that exposure? Had you ever been tested for HCV prior to this positive test? Did they do a quantitative PCR?

Because this is related to yourself it really comes under the umbrella of asking medical advice. You would be better talking to occupational health at work or your pcp. We can not offer medical advice as per the Terms of Service of the site.
