Newer Nurse Here, Care to share some info?

Published

Hey all :) I'm a newer nurse, I have been trying to review many things on my time off, but I honestly don't know what I don't know... lol. I currently have an NCLEX book open to review things. But I was wondering, would you be willing to list some random facts/pertinent things that come to mind regarding disease process, medications, treatments? I love to learn and would really enjoy seeing what you all come up with. Thank you :)

Get a CCRN study guide. I have "Pass CCRN" and love it. It goes pretty deep into many disease processes, meds, etc. If you still feel you haven't learned enough on a topic, you can always head to the internet, but for most folks it's more than you probably ever cared to know.

Specializes in Critcal Care.

I agree. I graduated from nursing school 2 years ago and have been working in MICU ever since. Back in January, I attended my first CCRN review with Dr Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio. She is amazing!! It's unbelievable how well she breaks it down. Her DVD set can be purchased on her website for $150. I highly recommend it. Excellent investment.

Hi! I just saw that you have been working in the MICU ever since you graduated. I too am interested in critical care and graduate in May. I'm applying to a job in the MICU this weekend.

Any tips you can give me on what worked for as far as applying and interviewing? I would love to know how you were successful!

So you were hired in the MICU right out of school? I'll be graduating in May, and am actually applying to a job in the MICU this weekend.

Do you have any tips you can give me on what worked for you as far as applying and interviewing? I'd love to know what you did to be successful in getting hired in an ICU as a brand new nurse!
