Hello from a NY Nurse at heart. I moved from Schenectady to Knoxville, TN (job relocation for hubby) but still consider NY my one and only home. :) I'm a Nurse Practitioner practicing in Adult/Occupational medicine.

Hello fellow New Yorkers. This page wasn't here when I was a member 2 years ago. What a great idea. I'm an RN (x's 12 years)and live in the burbs outside of Rochester. I have my associates degree but will be finished with my BS in February. Can't wait. It's been a long, hard road. Any other Rochester types out there? :rotfl:

Hi Furst, I live in Fl. now but I used to live in Canandaigua and worked as a NA at Thompson Hospital many, many years ago. I left there and moved to Geneva and got my LPN befor moving to Fl. Is the hospital and school still there? Janice
Yes, Thompson Hospital is still here and greatly expanded! It has received large donations from Golisano (local billionaire who has run for mayor of New York State, twice I believe) and from Sands (deceased owner of the Canadaigua Wine Company (Constellation Brands). You would not recognize the hospital!

I am assuming you went to school at Geneva General Hospital for your LPN. I know the hospital is there but not sure about the school.

I hope you are enjoying your weather in FL. We are working on 24 inches of snow in the last 24 hours! Of course, no school delays or cancellations. That is not enough for us hardy Western New Yorkers to worry about!

Yes, I did mean govenor instead of mayor. Please forgive my slip. I recently moved back to the Rochester, NY area from Manhattan where I lived for 3 years in the Upper West Side.

I have visited Ithaca but have never lived there. I couldn't find where I referenced that.

I did grow up in the Finger Lakes area (Waterloo, next to Geneva) and have many family members who live in Canadaigua (where Thompson Hospital is located).

It just came to me...are you thinking about Tompkins Community Hospital located in Ithaca, NY? The post I was responding to was about Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY!:)
