Hello guys,

Happy Holidays to all!! ;);)

Okay, so I'm starting NYU this spring and Im very nervous to say the least. Part of that is because of the unknown. Are there any NYU attendees here? Can anyone shed some light as to what I should look out for or expect during my first semester?

Welcome to NYU!

During your 1st semester, expect to study a lot with endless group projects. I'm sorry if I'm scaring you but that's the truth with NYU. Otherwise, you'll love the nursing program b/c you'll learn so much and meet so many wonderful people (instructors, staff, classmates, nurses, patients, etc.).

I'm so glad I came to NYU and I will be graduating this coming

May 07' :balloons:

Good luck!!

Just a quick ? - not to be nosy but how are you paying for the tuition? Are you taking out loans? I would need to take out loans for tuition and living expenses but I do not know if that is such a good idea. I am currently at a CC and have been denied 2X for the nursing program. I think that I may have a better chance getting into a private school.

Thanks

Attending NYU is very expensive and loan is the only way to survive. Everyone in the program all carry heavy loan with me included. I'm not too worry about the loan b/c my first year nursing salary will easily pay off my entire loan.

Plus, a degress from NYU is priceless!!!

Good luck!

Hi Visuals!

I will also be starting the accelerated nursing program at NYU this spring. I am also pretty nervous, not so much about the nursing program, more about living in NYC! I live in a rural area on the west coast and although I am excited at the prospect of living in NYC, I am trying to prepare myself for some major culture shock! NYU is gonna cost a bundle, even with the scholarships, but I really think it will be worth it in the end. Are you going to the orientation the thursday before school starts? Where are you planning on living, if you don't mind me asking? Did you register for classes yet? Congratulations- we'll probably be meeting in a few weeks!

Sorry I was kind of in a hurry last time we talked.... I am really stressed out and tired at that point and also having to get prepare for the finals, etc i just have no time to talk (maybe i do, but i just feel that i dun... that i should be studying instead of chatting, etc :lol2: )... and ofcourse right now i am sitting here writing you a msg....hehee, not that i have nothing to do i am suppose to be studing for my 2 finals on monday... but i find myself not concentrating so i start wandering around on the internet reading allnurses and here you are!

Anyway, yes i totally agree with sammi15 about your first semester here in NYU... lots of group projects and papers and getting used to the exam style..etc, but like sammi15's advice to me, take one day at a time and make sure you studied and do really good in midterms.....i find that helpful since by the end of the semester you'll pretty much be burnt out... like me i have no desire to study for finals but yet i have to.... but doing good in midterms takes off some pressures at least... i know people that are in the borderlines and is much more stressed out then i am in terms of having to get a really really good grade on finals to pass the classes since they didn't do good in midterms.

As for clinicals, i am lucky that i had a great clinical instructor (i really recommend her ;) ) but the only drawback is the clinical site is in Blyn, it was a bit harder for me since i live in Queens so it depends. I feel that she taught me sooo much and i feel that i had a great clinical experience this semester! clinical instructor is very imp since i've also heard other students with ohter CI are doing nothing or that they didn't have a great clincal experience, etc.

woo i wrote alot but hey i'll definitely give you more details about it after my finals plus 3 days of non-stop sleeping ok?? ;)

Happpy Holidays~

P.S. Sammi15 thanks for everything once again and i'll email you later~ good luck with your exams! :lol2:

I have been working on my applications, and can anyone tells me about NYU's nursing program? What kind of things are they looking for in their applicants? Do they have interview for potential applicants??
