NYU hiring process - page 5

Hello I recently applied for a position at NYU, they sent me an email recently saying to complete an online questionnaire or assessment tool. Is that a good sign? Do I have a good chance of hearing... Read More

    Hello all! I'm a new grad and new to the forum. I just received the email about taking the nursing career battery assessment. I know that the exam is timed but is there also a set number of questions? Or is it like the NCLEX where the number of questions varies depending on the answers? BTW, congrats to those that passed!

    @bionicRN, thank you very much for the tips! I want to prepare in advance. :-)

    @DWinNY, any updates??

    @NS81, haven't heard anything back since they asked for my availability... they got me all excited/nervous thinking things were going to be happening really quickly! From what I've heard, no one else from the info session I went to has gotten scheduled for that second interview yet, so I guess things are just moving along a little slower than initially anticipated. Any exciting news on your end?

    Hi sc128! The career battery assessment did have a set number of questions (I've forgotten how many, but I don't think you'll run out of time) but I don't think it works like the NCLEX exam does where your next question is determined by how you answered the previous one, etc. Here are some links to previous threads that discuss more about the assessment and what it entails, hope it helps! Good luck with everything!

    Hi DWinNY, I haven't heard anything yet either. I hope we find out this week. I'm nervous about the interview!

    Hi sc128! I agree with DWinNY. The test is more behavioral questions. How you handle certain situations i.e you don't get along with a coworker how do you handle that situation etc... It's not set up like the NCLEX. I took it for NYU and NYP and it's formatted the same way. Good luck!

    I know, I'm super nervous too! Every time I practice answering some of the possible interview questions I realize how much of an idiot I sound half the time, haha

    Haha. I'm going through the same thing! I hope it's not too intense. I spoke with another person when I was waiting to meet with the recruiter and she said it wasn't bad at all. She just met with the nurse manager from the pacu. My stomach has been in knots just thinking about it.

    Out of curiosity, did the recruiters tell you when the next hire date or when the next group of nurse residents were to start?

    The recruiter told our group that they were definitely going to have a January orientation, but were deciding whether to hold a December orientation as well. They mentioned that if they ultimately decided to include a December orientation, then things would probably progress forward rather quickly. We haven't heard anything regarding second interviews yet though, so perhaps they've decided to just have the January orientation...

    Hey guys! I guess I must have done well on the assessment (took it two days ago) because I just got an interview scheduled for this upcoming Monday! Very excited! Will keep you posted on what I hear!

    Just had my interview today and it went really well. Met with a nurse recruiter in the morning. She was very nice, provided me with a lot of information (salary, benefits, nursing culture at NYU) and asked basic questions. Then she introduced me to a hiring assistant who then made a call to a nurse manager to see if I could interview with her. An hour later I met with the nurse manager (not a panel interview) and we spoke for about an hour. Again, it was pretty basic and more casual than I had anticipated. I received a tour of the unit and was introduced to the staff. All in all, a really wonderful experience. I am hoping and praying that they extend an offer.

    @bionicRN In regard to your question about orientation, I found out that there is an orientation in December and one in January. I was wondering how long it took for you to receive an offer after interviewing with the nurse manager?
