Has anyone applied to NCC nursing program for spring 2012?? I applied on monday, i have 26 credits with a GPA of 3.88, my pre reqs i have a GPA of 4. What are my chances? O.o Im nervous, because i really want to get in the program! I cant wait to get my letter on the mail!

@nurse2be

actually it is very possible, because people that do not show up for the initial interview do lose their spot to others, and new letters of acceptance are sent.

did u apply for spring 2012?

I am currently taking my prerequisites; by the end of the year I'll have everything except micro finished (although I might take it during the winter session). Does anyone know if they offer the evening program during spring, or is it only in fall?

Medical micro isn't offered during the winter, only during regular session and the summer. It's possible to get into the program without it, though. A lot of my classmates that just finished NUR101 are taking it this summer before moving on to 105.

Also, I never saw any evening sections for NUR101. You can apply to the evening program, but the first semester you'll have to attend as a day student. The semesters that follow will have both a day and evening option.

I have been "tentatively" accepted upon interview to the NCC nursing program in the fall 2012. I actually lost that letter. Does anyone else have an interview tomorrow at 10:30? And if you do, do you know where??? My letter also didn't indicate if it was the day or evening program. I also have work at 12pm..is the interview longer than an hour?? Thanks for your anticipated help!

I don't know the location, sorry, but you can always call the nursing department.

Tentative acceptance pretty much means you've been accepted. They'll put you in a room with other students, explain the program to you for about 15 or 20 minutes and give you a sheet of paper with a few critical thinking questions on it. I think one of mine was a scenario about being unable to attend your hypothetical child's recital because of time constraints and what you would do. You'll answer that and you'll be sent to another room to sit down with a NUR101 instructor, they'll ask you a few questions, go over some paperwork and give you a registration slip. All in all it took a little over an hour for me and I was the second person in for the one-on-one.

amkat,

Were you accepted fall 2012, if so which block are in?

I started in the Spring. Going into 105 next semester.

hi guys I know this is an old forum hopeing i could get an anwer.i currently have my lpn and have been working for 3 years as an lpn and now i want to go for my rn and apply to ncc however they have a rule if u taken anatomy and phys. more than twice they dont even look at you, which i have. however i took it at ncc years ago and received a W on my transcript bc i couldnt get higher than a C grade. I ended up completing my LPN CERT at farmingdale state college and received way better grades in ap1 and ap2 mircobio and all that.. Now since i have my LPN do u think they would reconsider me!? I took my TEAS exam twice im not sure that the passing score is suppose to be.. they say above a 50% in math and reading is acceptable in suffolk community college. I have i think above 3.4 GPA and scored 60% of math and like a 47% in english. i took it twice hoping i would get into molley bc they also need the TEAS exam.. btw i took the TEAS exam V which is very difficult. Any advice. or answers i guess. Anyone know what ncc accepts as a passing score for the TEAS exam on there site is very vague and its hard to talk to anyone over the phone and have no time to go in person to chat!.. :( help.. thanks..

Hi Amkat,

I'm going into 105 at NCC this Fall. Any suggestion, How was it? I kept my Kozier and Brunner book b/c I was told they would still be used. Would you know how I can get power points to guide my readings over the summer?

Thank you?

I have a reading list and a few (not all) powerpoints from last year that you might find useful. 105 is the semester where you begin to learn more about the disease process, the pathophysiology behind certain diseases and the priority interventions for each. If it's anything like it was last year, you'll have to do 5 concept maps and what they call a "D record" every week for clinical, which is basically a disease record that includes information about whatever disease you're assigned, the patho, clinical manifestions, any other relevant information, 3 nursing diagnoses and interventions.

I remember 105 being the toughest, especially when you take it in the Fall, because you are swamped with work and there are no breaks in the semester. Start studying now. And don't just study the material to memorize, but buy/rent/borrow as many NCLEX books as you can and start going over questions. Make note cards for your meds, make a fluid & electrolytes chart. Although I did well on F&E, a lot of my classmates bombed the exam in which that was covered.

Another thing my class also found useful, start a private Facebook group for your graduating class and get as many people to sign up. You can share tips, information, quiz each other, exchange files or notes. It's kind of a lifesaver.

Above all, less complaining, more studying. You're all going to be overworked, overstressed and you're going to wish you had more time for everything, but you won't. And in those moments where you spend 30 minutes to an hour wishing things were different, or feeling like 101 didn't prepare you for 105, you could be going over your material.
