saint vincent's manhattan is now gone, but it seems one of the few remaining priviate hosptitals in nyc has avoided financial ruin.

federal antitrust authorities raised no red flags with a pending deal for lenox hill hospital to join the north shore-lij health system, clearing the path for the transaction to close. boards of both hospitals voted tuesday to finalize the deal.
lenox hill turned to deep-pocketed north shore-lij to stabilize its finances. in return, the long island-based chain will now have its first hospital in the competitive manhattan market. the addition of lenox hill expands its coverage area beyond long island, queens and staten island. north shore-lij is already the largest system in new york state and the ninth-largest employer as well. it employs more than 38,000 people.

seems hospitals will all be part of one network or another...."Network North, South
Cannot speak for any where else in the USA, but had this particular deal not gone through, Lenox Hill probably would have followed St. Vincent's into closing.
Sadly healthcare has become a business for better or worse, and just as with that side of things, there are those that have healthy operations with lots of spare cash, and those that are hard up.
IIRC, there is now only one priviate hospital left in NYC or at least Manhattan, Harlem North General, and they aren't doing well financially either.

Hi. Im just curious what the starting salary for a new grad rn in lenox is. any info greatly appreciated. thanx :)
I am actually a new grad and I am starting to work tomorrow at Lenox Hill. The starting salary for the day shift is 73 thousand.
Thanks so much for posting. Do you know what the night diff. is there? Also, if you dont mind me asking, do you have ADN or BSN? I have been offered a position on nights, and have to go down this week to discuss salary, so just curious. Thanks soooo much for any info. I appreciate it.
No problem. I am actually starting with orientation tomorrow. I am a new grad with an ADN but almost completed my BSN (graduating in May). I am going to be working the night shift. There is a 6,000 dollar differential for nights and as soon as I graduate you get an additional 1500 dollars a year.
I really appreciate your feedback. Best of luck with your orientation & congratulations on getting the job.
Thats approx 80k on night shift, thats awesome. If I accept the position, I think I will start orientation in April.

Hi RN418, Congrats on your new job!!! I am a new grad too and I actually have an interview next week with the recruiter from North Shore LIJ (but not sure for which position). Can you tell me how the interview process was and what sort of questions did they ask? Any info would be really helpful.....Thank you :)

congratulations on getting a job at lenox hill hospital... i have applied several times and no luck.
i did volunteer work and 2 internships with them and the nurse recruiter even promised me a job for when i got my licence and now all they say is that things have changed since the merger.... can you give me some input on how you applied? all they tell me is that new grads are not being considered at this time... i graduated in may 2010 with my bsn.
