New to travel nursing: looking for advice

Published

Hey All I'm an 4 yr RN from Dallas Texas looking to travel within the next month. I hear its easier with a buddy or meeting other travelers at your destination. Anyone travel as an ER nurse to NY Presbyterian? That's where I'm considering taking the assignment. Anything I should be aware of? Advice? Anyone over in NYC and loving it/hating it? Looking forward to connecting with ya'll. Thank you.

Specializes in They know this too!.

I like NYC. You will never be bored because there is always something to do on your days off.

I don't work the ER but I would ask about ratio, at one hospital there wasn't one. The nurse was from CA and she was very concerned. NY at least the hospitals I have worked for doesn't have strict ratio and I have found myself with WAY too many patients at a time. Not sure how TX is. It is my only thought. But, Pres is one of the best so I don't think they would do this to their patients let alone nurses.

Another thing I hated parking (well I have a car) and if the agency only offers a housing stipend and the hospital decides to continue finding housing isn't happening.

Good luck!
