Hi everyone,
I am new to this site and I am very happy to have found a group of people that are doing distance learning also. I am an LVN; I have been working on all my pre-requisites and then I will get started with the nursing courses at EC. I am studying for my last pre-requisite at this time: Microbiology, and I am a little intimidated by how hard it is (I am studying from the book all on my own). I hope to go take the exam within a few weeks, any tips???
By the way, what is CPNE, I notice everyone talks about it...
Thanks

CPNE = "Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination." It is the 2.5-day clinicals exam that comes at the end of the EC curriculum. There is info on it here: https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/School_Of_Nursing/Clinical_Performance_in_Nursing_Examination
For Micro, I first read a great book called "Microbiology Demystified" -- it was great! Follow the EC exam content guide and you can't go wrong.
Good luck!!

I used Cliffs Notes from an e-book for $10 plus the REA Super Review for another $10. They overlapped quite a bit, but the Cliffs Notes were a bit more medically oriented than the Super Review. I think some people have gone in with just the Cliffs Notes being studied. Reading the micro text from front to back was just a little dry for me, IMO.
Good luck!
