new to school nursing

Hi,

I am a new grad. I plan to go into school nursing. It seems so scary to get started because you are all alone in the school. There are no other nurses to ask for help. I would appreciate any advise on how to get started.

I practiced nursing in many settings (office, hospital, military)and did some time as a substitute in public school before I attempted school nursing. I am responsible for 13 schools. As a result I am not the first aider or the medication nurse. I am required and do vision and hearing screens. My professional background included getting a health promotion degree. I am the only 1 of 6 nurses (in my department) who spends lots of time on health promotions, computer technology, and resource networking. I beleive that coming from a varied background has kept me more motivated then the other nurses.
