Published

Hello everyone,

I have accepted a position as an elementary school nurse (K-4) for the 10-11 school year in Texas.

Where does everyone looks for adivce and helpful tips for school nursing?

Also do any of you have any specific books you would suggest?

What is the ONE thing in your cinics you can't live without?

Thanks for all the advice!

ICE!:lol2: You will quickly learn that ice & a sticker can cure almost anything.

Congratulations on your new job! I have worked in middle school and elementary school, and I faaaaaaarr prefer elementary. Will you have a lead nurse or consulting nurse to call if you have something unusual come up? I think the hardest part of school nursing is having no backup in an emergency. All you have is bandaids, ice, a stethoscope and a BP cuff--treat your nearby EMTs well.:twocents:

Welcome to the insanity that is the love of my life!

Congratulations!

My favorite drug Handbook is the Lexi-Comp Pediatric Drug Handbook - it has the widest safe drug ranges so decreases the number of times you have to call to question dose.
