New to "BIRP" charting....anyone?

The geri-psych unit I'm working at is great, and all is going well. But the charting they do is "BIRP" charting ) behavior/intervention/response/plan. This is totally new to me - does anyone know of a site that offers info on this type of charting, like with examples? We had a client attack a nurse yesterday and the RN asked me to make a nursing "incidental" note using the BIRP method. I'm sure the more practice I get, the better my charting will become, but I'm looking for some key words to use, like how to calm down the client (decelerate?), etc...basically I'd like to improve my charting skills so they match the psych area better, and are more informative. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

never heard of that one....maybe they can adopt it for our well newborn nursery, where burps are so common? rofl.

I work in a similar unit. I've never heard of that kind of charting, but the CNAs do something similar. For response (or "effectiveness" in my books) I just want to write "ha ha ha ha ha"

birp? i had never heard of that. have you tried looking at one of those "documenting made incredibly easy" books?

i like just good ol narrative notes.
