Hello everyone! I just got accepted to nursing school and start Fall 2011! :-) It's an ADN program.

I was looking at the school schedule and saw that nursing students meet Monday and Thursday from 8am-11:25am, and Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:30am-4:00pm.

My question is this: Based on your school experience, does this sound like the only hours I will go to school and participate in clinicals? OR do you think the schedule I posted is just in class time and clinical time is extra?

Thanks for any help. I am currently a stay at home mom to three little kiddos. I am looking for as much info. as possible so I can prepare them for my absence.

Based on your times, it sounds like you'll have clinical on your long days and class on your short days. In my school, clinical times were always included in the class schedule.

To ease your mind, call the school tomorrow to find out. :)

It depends on the number of credit hours you are taking. For a sixteen week semester, you attend class one hour for each credit hour taken. So, if you are taking Adult Health 1 that is 5 semester hours, you will be in class for at least five hours a week for the course. There are also additional hours, lab hours for example. With the information you provided, it is hard to say. You should know more when you attend your school’s orientation.

Congrats on being accepted!

the schedule looks like a typical schedule for a first semester....only thing is they might have lab days and skill testing days occasionally which may require you to stay longer in school time... As u move into the later semesters in your adn program...we had class 2 days a week...then clinicals 3 days a week....congrats on getting selected!!!

Thank you for the quick responses! :-)

I looked up the number of units, and the schedule says 11.

Yes, I do have orientation... June 20th! I was just anxious to find out about the schedule. All of your wonderful information should hold me over until then. :-D

Thank you for the congrats too! I am very excited... albeit a little nervous as well!
