In 11 days, I will be a new nursing student. A few days ago, I got my nursing fundamentals textbook. Between that and the NCLEX review book I perused at Barnes and Noble, I am totally overwhelmed with the information. I just can't wrap my head around how on earth we will learn ALL THAT in only 2 years?!?
HOW DO WE DO IT???

You will do it because it is something that you need to do and once you qualify and start working you will begin to learn all over again however will be more to the area you are working in rather that a bit about everything
Good luck

Nursing School ISN'T as bad your instructors and fellow students (will) make it out to be. The professors make it out to be the "be all, end all" If I were you I wouldn't study anything in advance. I think many nursing students never get to really enjoy being a student nurse because of the constant pressures of possibly failing the course. In my experience, when I look back, If I only took the time out to take care of Me- excercise, eat right, meditate and focus on positivity I would have been a lot less stressed. The biggest mistake I made was not absorbing being in the moment and learning as much as I can at that very moment. The most important aspect of nursing school is UNDERSTANDING the material. Listen carefully during lecture, take notes of pertinent info ( record the lesson if allowed and listen to it on your way home). It's not important to know every inch of the text book, but it is important you understand the course objectives, since that is what you will be tested on. Make sure you have a life outside of school. Try your best to enjoy the process. During your eleven days build time management skills, find ways to relieve stress, figure out how you are going to jugle a social life and school (very imp. to maintain a social life). There will be plenty of learning to do when you actually start the class, utilize this time to plan your two years. Trust me it will be worth it! Best of luck on your journey to a wonderful career.:)

You do it by accepting and even embracing that while you are in school, nursing school pretty much IS your life.

How do you do it? How do you learn all that info in 2 years? The answer is... you don't/you won't. It's simply not possible to learn everything in 2 years, or 4, or a lifetime. Nursing school will give you the basics/tools that you will rely on to continue learning each and every day you'll work as a nurse.
Wax on, wax off.

If you've got a decent head on your shoulders (and since you got accepted, I have no reason to doubt it), you do it by showing up for every class, reading what is assigned, paying attention and asking questions. I take it all one day at a time, one test at a time. And I focus on this all being a journey, rather than just a destination. So far its worked for me. Good Luck, you'll do fine.
