Hey everyone ! I Just graduated nursing school in December and just landed my first job in a smaller facility on a medical/telemetry floor. I’ve been working in the ER for about six years so I have some clinical experience but I wanted to know what topics or conditions and such I should review before starting work? I just really want to be prepared. Also, any advice on supplies I should have ? I have a stethoscope and penlight and one pair of (older) trauma scissors.. generally just looking for advice ..? Thanks everyone !

Congtats on your new job! For tele it helps to review common cardiac rhythms and practice reading strips. Also review the different cardiac meds. Medical is so broad that it would be hard to review everything you might see but I found it helpful to review the steps for different skills (some really good Youtube videos!) so that you'll be ready when opportunities to practice come up on the floors. Good luck and I hope you like the job ?

What a great opportunity. I've worked tele. I find the heart fascinating. It's very dynamic and multidimensional.
You'll have a lot of patients with multiple comorbidities. Enjoy!
