Hello guys. been working as a med-surg/oncology nurse for a year now. i love what i do and im so grateful that i have a job. however since im still a new grad and this is my first nursing job i dont feel like i am as smart as some of my co-nurses on the floor. i love being in school, but dont really want to go back just for a masters. so I am starting to look at continuing education credits, but i dunno where to start. my state (Hawaii) doesnt need CE for renewal of license however i am licensed with California too and I need some CE before I renew.

my coworker said to look at Discovery Health and nursing journals. someone said go to attend conferences. is this the right thing to do? I dont know how to find CE. I dunno what is the difference between CE CEU and CME. they all seem the same, but i dont want to pay money for the wrong thing. do you get CE for being ACLS, PALS and NRP certified? I already got my ONS chemotherapy and biotherapy provider card and I got some CE for that.

Well I jus want to be well inform educated RN =D I came to this site when I was studying for NCLEX, so I hope now this site can help me be a better RN =D thanks guys for helping.

If you have only been a nurse for one year and this will be your first renewal, you should not need CEs. CA does not require CE for the first renewal.

Ok thats good to know. at least i dont need to stress too much about getting it done so fast. but that mean 2nd renewal i need it. so i kind of want to get on the ball and start working on my CE so i can be better a nurse =D
