New NP Nervous About Starting First APN Position!

Hello guys!

I will be starting my new PNP position in about a month. I am SOOO NERVOUS! It really takes me a while to get into the swing of things with a new position (it always has) and I am now so very nervous!

Anybody go through the same thing? What did you do to help?

I've been at my job as a new NP for almost two months. I totally love it but it is still stressful--every day I learn more that I DON'T know. My advice--realize you have other resources (another NP, an MD or DO), and you can always bring the pt back for a recheck--once I learned that second thing my stress level went down quite a bit--I didn't realize that people would WANT to come back but they do, they want to see how they are doing too. I have had pts come back one day, one week, a couple of weeks or a month later. Or I have called them at home. They appreciate the attention too.

Peds are tough--the well child stuff is okay but those sick kids are TOUGH. Do your best, get help if you can, and bring them back for the recheck.
