hey everyone..i'm 19, and just started my prereq's this semester. i have no clue what is ahead of me. i look at this forum and see things about teas and net and nclex and really have no idea what they are for, and when you take them. isn't the nclex like the final exam? when do i take the teas? nobody has explained any of this to me.

also, how many units are you guys taking a semester? i'm only taking 13 this semester, since i signed up late, and there wasn't much available. i feel like i can take on a little more, but i'm wondering how much is too much..i also have 1 year old twin boys, so i do have a little distraction. lol

thanks for any input! :redpinkhe

hi there exs -

one question i do have.....are you also working? being a fulltime mom and taking 13 credits should give you plenty to do. i would concentrate on the classes you are taking now and do well in them.

depending on the nursing school you are planning on attending, they will tell you which exam you should take...either the nln, net, teas, hesi, etc. each exam is a little different but required for most schools to be able to enter into the nursing program.

the nursing schools i have my application in wants the net exam. (nurse entrance test). i just recently took it and did pretty well with a composite score of 86%.

another nursing program i'm planning on putting in my application is requesting the hesi entrance exam which i'm looking into now.

if you are just starting, i would look into which nursing schools you would like to attend and see what they are requiring for exams and classes to be completed.

i would also schedule a meeting with the nursing advisor. most school advisors don't have the up to date information that you may need for nursing school.

another things, having allnurses.com will definitely help with another other questions you may have. everyone on here has been very helpful for me.

good luck to you!!!:yeah::nurse:

thanks! no, i'm not working right now.

so depending on which test my nursing school requires, do i take that before i apply? and where at, at my community college? or do you take it at the nursing school?

thanks again for the help :)

You would take it before you apply so that it's included with your application for nursing school.

Definitely contact the nursing program and find out when is the best time for you to take the exam.

Most of the schools have the exams there. I'm attending a CC currently and they offered the exam at the testing center. I believe the cost was $35 to take the exam.

great thanks so much! and one more..when is the nclex taken? at the end of nursing school?

The NCLEX is taken once you have finished nursing school. This exam is to get your license as an RN.
