Hi! I graduated lpn school in august and moved from south jersey to killeen texas 2 weeks ago. My husband is stationed here... I was wondering if, since i am a military spouse, do i have to apply for a texas nursing license? I'm hoping there's some kind of military loop hole :) If anyone has any info or advice, I would love to here it!

Since the state of New Jersey is not a part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, you will need a Texas license in order to work here. There are no military loopholes that I am personally aware of at this time.
By the way, Texas refers to their basic nurses as LVNs (licensed vocational nurses). Once you receive your Texas license, your official job title will change from "LPN" to "LVN."
The endorsement process does not take very long. I moved to Texas from California, and it took about 5 weeks to endorse my California LVN license into Texas. Just be prepared to pay the fees and sign a bunch of paperwork in front of a notary public.
Good luck to you, and welcome to Texas.

the only "loophole" there is is to work at a federal facility. See if Darnall is hiring. There is also the VA hospital in Temple. Temple is about 30 min east of Killeen, and I work there now. Good luck!

Welcome to Texas!! Yes, you will have to obtain licensure here-doesn't take very long. And you will be an LVN instead of an LPN. Hopefully you can get help from the military regarding employment opportunities!! Yee-haa!!:welcome:
