New LPN & Can't get a job

Published

Does anyone have any ideas how to get a job without experience? I have my IV infusion certification and I've worked as a dialysis tech for 4 years in an outpatient clinic. I applied for jobs almost everyday since I got my license in May but haven't had any luck. Does anyone have suggestions? I dont want to forget my skills and I want to put my hard work to work but I'm not getting the chance. It's frustrating!

I landed a job after a month & a half. Some things I did was: change my resume a bit, expand my job search radius, and apply to any place that hired LPNS ( I applied at nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, jails, home health agencies, dialysis facilities, assisted living facilities, school nurses agencies, and chart review companies). I even applied to jobs that said "1 yr experience preferred". I finally ended up getting hired on the spot at a jail(in a neighboring state). I spent a lot of time on craigslist, indeed, simply hired, miracle workers, and career builder. Some days, I would call the HR offices at some of the places, and follow up on my application. Looking for a job is a full-time job in my opinion, but you really have to be persistent. I got a few no's before I finally got a yes. Don't lose hope, it will happen for you soon :)
