New LPN Age 61

Published

I have been accepted into an LPN program which begins Spring, 2018. I can only attend the part-time option as I need to continue working full-time while I attend school. I will be 61 when I finish the LPN program. I'm most worried about being able to find a job, due to my age, once I graduate. Does anyone have any experience with this in Minnesota?

Specializes in medical surgical. Has 5 years experience.

Congratulations! My dinner companion just finished her RN and she is close to your age. She is working med surgery in a large hospital in my city. My other RN friend wants to work hospice. My mother was in hospice and I don't care what age the nurse is. However, with age comes wisdom. Best to your new career!
