Hello all!

I just got the call today that I got a job as a CNA in my local public hospital! I will be working on the Pulmonary/Stroke/Medicine Unit. I believe this probably falls under the Med/Surg catergory of nursing. Has anyone here worked a floor like this before? Any advice, warnings or tips??

Thank you all!

I love my fellow ALLNURSES! :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat

That's where I work.....it's a very busy floor, and I work the night shift!!! Be prepared for good days, and really tough days. Most of the patients are older, and many are demented. Try not to take anything personally. You will be doing lots of turning, so be sure you utilize good body mechanics. Is this your first CNA job? It was for me, and I love it!

No its not my first, I've actually worked in a Demenia/Alz. assited living home for about four months now, so I definatly know how to deal with those patients. I dont take anything personally at all. I've been called a fat ugly pig, which sucks but you have to remember there not in a good state of mind. Its rough but its so rewarding when you get the sweet patient who is just so grateful to have you around. I love my Dementia patients! :p They're what I look forward to every day I work. But I feel this hospital job will give me so much more experience! And I love being busy, its the only thing that keeps me awake when I work the night shift! So hopefully I will love this floor! :D
