New Job in Assisted Living

Specializes in Geriatric Psych.

I have accepted a PRN job at an Assisted Living facility, and I have never worked in Assisted Living before. Most of my experience is in LTC and a Geriatric Psych unit in a hospital. I will be responsible for about 60 residents on the evening shift. Would anyone like to share some conventional wisdom?

Hi there!

I've been working in Assisted Living for over 6 years. I started as a caregiver, moved up to Medication Aid and now, LPN. I also work on-call in a LTC. What I would tell you is... if you are used to LTC, you will handlle the A-Living with no problem at all!

Most of what we do in A-Living is to pass meds, CBGs/insulin, and minor treatments. You will do just fine!! Good luck!
