Hello all, I am trying to get my first job as an RN. I know that med/surg is ideal for a new grad, but it is very hard to get hired into the hospitals in my area as a new grad. They all say they want someone with experience. I' finally swallowed the fact I might have to work LTC (not my favorite), then I saw a job posted for a office nurse OB/GYN. I love OB, precepted there, always went into nursing for OB and love it. Now the question is.......Is working in an office a good place for a new grad to start??? or is LTC a job you can learn more from??? Opinions PLEASE. Also what do you suppose the pay will be as an office nurse working in a physicians group?

My suggestion is take a job that will make you happy. A great paying job you hate will burn you out.
In nursing, generally you balance pay against convenience. Generally a Dr's office wont pay as well as bigger facilities, but you wont work nights, weekends, or holidays. Hospitals pay better but you lose a lot of convenience. Good luck.
