Does anybody attend the accelerated BSN program in NJCU? If so what is the cost of the program? How competative is it to get in? Will they accept you if your overall GPA is lower than a 3.0 but you have a very high GPA in your prerequisites? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

NJRN -- Are you in the Communiversity program now, or did you just finish? I found out about the program too late to apply for this May, so I have to wait for May 2009. Thanks for the info. Very helpful!

Hey Sweet Life...I think you may have tried to message me but my inbox was full...sorry about that. Anyway, to answer your question...the program is awesome. I really can't say enough good things about it. The days are long, there's a lot of work, but it's very manageable, and I have a baby at home.

I'm actually surprised that it's going as well as it is. I really set myself up for thinking it was going to be impossible, but it's not. Like I said, the classes are hard, and there's no room for slacking, but the faculty is great. They want to help you and they want you to learn. They really bend over backwards for us in that sense.

Since it's a new program, there has been some disorganization. And I know what you mean about everything happening at the last minute. That's how it was with us too. But you have to understand, this is only the 2nd year, and they're still trying to iron out the kinks. But it's not a deal breaker by any means. And like I said, sometimes it's works to your advantage because they realize it's not perfect and they're very flexible.

My advice on the Hesi would be to buy the study guide, and read that thing front to back. There was nothing on the exam that wasn't in the book. The program director is a firm beliver in the Hesi exam and thinks there's a direct correllation between your grade and how well you'll be able to keep up with the material. Even though you need good grades to get in, that's not enough for them. They need to know that you've retained that information. So try to do your best and don't sweat it, it's really not that hard.

And just to remind you, this program is the cheapest in the state! Since we started in the summer, I was able to get 2 full years of Stafford loans to cover ALL my tuition. Of course I'll have to pay it back, but it's nice to not have to worry about it now. And I know the money will come eventually anyway. So don't give up on it just yet.

And again, I'm at the Communiversity so I'm not sure how much the faculty differs from one campus to the next, but ours is awesome. I'm gonna try and clean up my inbox so PM me if you have any more questions!

Hey! I tried to message you too! LOL but it told me that your inbox is full. My test is next week! I'm very scared! I want to get in this program. I heard they are taking about 45 students.

Thank you all for responding to my thread. i am had some slight anxiety attack today. i am a nervous wreck about this exam and i wante dto make sure i am studying the right stuff. the review book the school suggested i buy was on back order and i only found out about the test roughly two weeks ago. I ended up buying a updated edition of the review book called Admission assessment exam review published by Elsevier powered by Hesi 2008 edition. since the Njcu didn't indicate what exactly would be on their exam. the new book has a lot of subjects and i just wanted to make sure that these are all being tested on.

For people that have taken the exam

I doubt physics is on the exam.

Hi guys...I finally cleaned up my inbox so if you have any questions, feel free to message me.

Just to let you all know, physics was not on our exam but that does NOT mean it won't be on this one. Different schools test on different subjects. I heard directly from the program director's mouth that they wanted to "throw the book at us" and test on EVERYTHING. To me, that means if the physics part is new and they can test you on it, they will. The best thing to do is to call the nursing department and ask. And don't talk to the secretary, talk to a faculty member. They'll know for sure.

IF it is, then definitely study right from the guide. If not, at least skim it over. The information in there will help you conceptualize different diseases and the equipment in the hospital used to treat them....trust me.

Good luck to everyone!

Thanks Love840207

The book i got is not the 2003 edition. it is 2008. i was able to see a copy of the 2003 book. The major difference is the 2008 has a lot of diagrams and a physics section and practice test. Good luck to you

Hi NJRNtobe,

Did you have to do an interview to get into NCJU? I read on thier website that they sometimes do interviews.

hi everyone am a nervous wreck:eek:. i took the hesi exam at njcu on june 24 th 2008 for ther accelerated bsn.can anyone tell how they are scoring the critical thinking section. what is it over:confused:. i noticed i had an 820.the dean said that some people had 94 percentile already that made me lose hope for myself and my score:crying2:.i had a poor percentile.who knows when they would send out the acceptance or rejection papers. i want this so bad.

Hi Miralpn,

I took the HESI on June 17, 2008. Did you give your email when you took the test because they should have sent you something explaning the results. Anyway I think the critical thinking was out of 1000.

I don't think NJCU is looking so much at the critical thinking. i

I don't think NJCU is looking so much at the critical thinking. I think they are looking more at how well you did on the 7 sections. The critical thinking did not count toward you overall average. What did you score for your overall average? If that score was good I wouldn't worry so much about the critical thinking score.

I heard that NJCU would be sending out acceptance/rejection letters within the next two weeks.
