Hello,
I'm new to the ICU and I'm trying to learn as much as I can! Specifically I'm hoping to sharpen my skills and understanding with patho and pharm. I would like some sort of text book to be able to reference and study as I go through training/orientation. I was considering buying the Critical Care made Incredibly easy, but thought I'd see if anyone knew of any other books that focus on patho and pharm while explaining the nursing implications.
Also, if anyone has any other good resources (websites, podcasts, books, cheatsheets) would love to hear about those too!
Thanks!

Go to YouTube.com and type in IUCriticalCare this is a YouTube channel that offers a good introduction for critical care nurses. I'll give you more later when I have more time

My wife's a nurse in the ICU, and when she first got hired on, one of our good friends who's a physician gave her "The ICU Book" that he said helped him through his ICU rotation while in medical school. She [my wife] says it helped her out tremendously when she first started. Although we all know nursing and medicine are different ball games, the ICU is a different ball game than most other departments. Not sure if that helps, but you can always look into it.
Another excellent resource is UOFL internal medicine series on YouTube.com. I especially enjoyed the video entitled "shock and hemodynamics in the CCU". Medcram lectures was a great YouTube channel, that is taught by a pulmonologist who covers a broad range of topics that would benefit any ICU nurse. Eric's medical lectures is another one. He has an exellent series on shock and many other ICU topics. I also enjoy listening to Paul Bolin who is prepping medical students to take the USMLE step 1-3. I intend to work possibly with an intensivist once I finish my NP program, but I think these resources would benefit any critical care nurse, especially with understanding pathophysiology and common treatments.

Following and I'm glad you asked the question. I'm a new ICU nurse too and although youtube channels are great, if anyone has any good nursing-oriented textbooks or quick clinical reference guides to recommend that would be great too. Appreciate all the input!
