New hospitals with 32-bed units in 16-bed pods

Published

I'm looking for examples of new hospital construction with 32-bed nursing units configured in 16-bed pods.

Ideally, would like these to be in a new patient tower, or new hospital, or replacement hospital built since 2000.

Does anyone know of any?

Thanks.

The hospital I work for has just begun construction of a new 7 story tower with floors 3-7 having two 16-bed units on different wings of a "U".

What particularly are you interested in?

I am looking for the name of the hospital, the city, and the state. Thanks.

I know you're looking for examples of new construction, but the whole "pod" concept is not a new one. In fact, there's another pod-oriented hospital near the Houston (TX) medical center that was built in the 1970's. It's right across the street from the Miller outdoor theater and Rose Garden - beautiful location. I'm sure it was a radical concept at the time. Sorry I don't know the current name of it - it has changed hands (& names) over the years.

I do distinctly remember working there as an agency nurse in the 1980's - and my assignment for the shift included the dubious title of "Pod Nurse Leader". LOL :D It made me think of "Night of the Living Dead". Would that make the patients "Pod people"???
