Hello Everyone I am new to the allnurses.com! I am a new graduate LPN and I live in New Jersey. I am having a very hard time finding a job. Can anyone help me? I graduated almost a year ago. I decided to go back to school to do some of my pre-req's to start as an RN but I think that was a mistake because a year is creeping up on me so fast and every job interview I have been to which has not been many. Tell me the same thing. I have no experience! What I am not understanding is How am I suppose to get experience if no one will give me a chance??? Please Help!

Continuing your nursing courses while looking for employment is a good idea. You may be able to network with some of your classmates.

Well I gradauted in December as a LPN and just got a job offer and I didnt have experience either. What I did was I just applied to everywhere and sent out resume to places even that werent hiring. I still get a few calls from the places that were not hiring but now are. Good luck on your journey.

look on the advance for nurses website. The veterans hospitals are hiring and LTC will give you a chance as a new LPN, I can't imagine NJ not having jobs!

I don't understand either how a graduate student is supposed to get experience if no one hires them. They should consider clinicals as experience. But people today do not want to waist money and time to train new grads. No one was born with experience.
After graduating as RN(BSN) I was planning to move to NJ but you are saying that it is hard to find a job while others are telling me nurses/docs are needed.

I totally agree with you, it's like a vicious cycle: no one will hire me b/c i don't have experience, but how can I get experience if no one will hire me....
I agree with another nurse who stated advance, they have a great web site and also the nursing spectrum as well.
Have you ever tried setting up a profile with linkedin as well?? great place in general for professionals to network, and you can get in touch with head hunters.
You can also stress to potential employers that you are in the process of completing your RN education... it's not like you are sitting at home doing nothing :)
Thanks for all the responses to my question!!!! Well since my post. I have been offered a position as a med assitant/caregiver. The pay sucks put it is a chance to get some type of experience so I start on Saturday. I aslo went into a LTC facility and recieved an interview and was hired on the spot. I am waiting for background check to come back and it should be in by tomorrow. So wish me Luck!!!!! I also have an interview scheduled for Friday at 11am. I have been so stressed for the last few weeks but it seems that everything is starting to look up for me. I was feeling like going to school was a waste of time and money but now I am so happy that I actually might have to chose what jobs I want to keep. Once again Thank you for the responses!!!!!
