I am starting my new LDRP (L&D, Recovery, & Post Partum) position in 2 1/2 weeks. I plan on reviewing my L&D textbook from school to refresh my memory, but is there any other books I can purchase that will help me out. I don't want to seem like a complete idiot when I start the job!! I am so excited and nervous at the same time!!
Thanks!

I started my L&D position in august and was told by my nurse educator to purchase the book, Intrapartum Management Modules: A perinatal Education Program, 4th ed. by B. Kennedy, D. Ruth, & E. Martin. It's actually very good. I would recommend reading the chapters and doing all of the questions at the end of each chapter or at least reading the questions and answers and skimming the chapters.
Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions on orientation because it goes by very quickly. I am on my 11th week of my 12 weeks of orientation and I feel like it went by so fast. I still ask questions and go over scenarios with my preceptor when we have free time. Developing good critical thinking, time management, and prioritization skills are the keys to success in my opinion.
Good luck.
Thanks Kayla! I will definitely purchase this book!
