new grad salary ADN

Published

Hi can someone please tell me how much a new grad at Southern California makes in hospitals and/or clinics? thanks so much!

Specializes in Emergency, Trauma, Critical Care.

Depends on the part as well as if you work hospital versus clinic versus other environment. Likely somewhere between 25 and 35/hr base plus differentials.

Having a BSN will give you more acute care opportunities.. Otherwise pay will be no different give or take a dollar between adn and bsn

i am actually considering going ADN route, if it is financially more cost-effective, rather than do an accelerated or entry level master's program. I already have a BA.

i have heard that ADNs have a hard time finding jobs in southern California. Specifically, in which areas of southern California, especially near LA are they still hiring ADNs?

Try Western Governors University. They are not expensive and if you already have a Bachelor then there are many programs out there you can apply too. ADNs today are being required to get their BSNs. Not many facilities accepting ADNs. They are moving to BSN requirements. Its hard to find jobs in all over Southern California. Not just specific areas. There are a ton of nurses here with not enough jobs to handle or the jobs require BSN and experience before they hire you so New Grads have it hard. Especially without a BSN. But keep looking. Try the Long Term Care/Skilled Nursing Facilities and Clinics. Some are still hiring ADNs. You find much in a hospital. I have been looking and hospitals want BSNs.

I have a bachelor and I plan to be in WGUs BSN program in October.

Good Luck!

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.
