New grad pay in NORTH Florida?

Jay Florida, huh??

There is a hospital in Jay, it is owned by Baptist Healthcare, they also have a hospital in Pensacola. Baptist will pay new grad around 16.00 per hr to start, maybe more with some experience. Night diff at Baptist is around 3.50. Parttime wil pay same as FT, perdiem i think is around 23.00 w/o diff.

Milton has a hospital as does Crestview, Crestview hospital has a very lucarative perdiem deal.

In Pensacola there is also West FL Hospital (HCA) and Sacred Heart hospital. Sacred pays better than all of them, their perdiem is 25.00 (worst case) plus diffs on nights. base pay is still low. The great thing about Sacred is they have a weekend only work program, that pays with 2yrs exp or more 30.00 per hr plus diffs. The best paying job around that area for sure. Sacred works you very hard for your money though i will tell you that.

I work at Baptist Healthcare in Jax and they start new grads off at 17.50 for GNs, 18.00 after you pass NCLEX and 18.75 once you are off orientation. 3-11 shift diff is 2.25 and 7p-7a is 3.25. If you work weekends too they add an extra 5 dollars to that. If you have your BSN you get .50 extra....I have it and I feel like this is a slap in the face.

If you decline insurance yes the hospital adds like an extra 20.00 dollars to your pay check every two weeks but you have to show that you are covered else where like your husbands insurance or something.

Let me see . . . you decline health insurance and save THEM about $400 of monthly contributions to health premiums, and they "reward" you with $40 a MONTH extra pay?

That's almost offensive.

Wow! Yes, it is obnoxious! There seems to be a big difference from hospital to hospital/state to state regarding opting out of insurance. In Ca. you get 25% of your base pay, in New Hampshire you get $1000 per year--LOL. I wonder if this is how all hospitals in Jax are...or if they differ

I was offered a position at Baptist health, but I accepted a job at Memorial hospital because they offered me better pay. Plus I live really close. I'm working med/surg and love it! I've gained so much experience and know that I could go anywhere from here.

I will be graduating this spring and was wondering if anyone had current info on hospitals in the Jax area. Im interested in pay, shifts, orientation, and differentials. Also, does anyone know the policy if you do not need to get health benefits...do you get a pay increase for opting out?

Baptist & St. Vincents start GN's at $17.50 hr. St Lukes starts at $19.46 hr, OP is $18.50 (I think), Flagler & Kindred start at $19.00 & Shands in Gainsville starts at $19.25. Baptist, St V, OP, Kindred & Shands have decent GN programs. All have weekend & night differential, but Kindred doesn't have an hrly dif after 3:00...just straight hrly rate for the full shift. Most do have the "opt out" policy, but I'm not too sure what the rates are. Hope this helps some...good luck to you! :)
