I have been applying absolutely everywhere in hopes to receive a job or even my first interview. I only have my ADN, but am currently enrolled in the RN-BSN program at Ohio State University. I finally have my first interview on Wednesday! The only problem is it is in a nursing home/rehab center. I will be done with my BSN in May of 2014 and really would like to have a job somewhere in a hospital after that, since that is ideally where I want to be. Would working at a nursing home/rehab facility give me experience or make me look undesirable to hospitals. I really do not want to jeopardize ever getting a job in a hospital. Any advice is helpful!

I am also a new grad in an RN-BSN program and wondering the same thing. my passion lies in critical care and i want to know if taking a nursing home job for a year or 2 will jeopardize my future chances of obtaining a career in critical care or in a hospital in general! if someone has any insight please respond. Good luck to you nseymour!

If you bring this attitude that LTC is beneath you, it probably won't go well and you won't get along with the staff. Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I didnt mean for it to sound as if LTC was beneath me. I have just heard of people who have started out in LTC and had a very hard time transitioning into the hospital systems.
