New grad in a new state

Good morning everyone!

So I suppose the purpose of this is to ask for some advice. I graduated in Dec 16, took the NCLEX and passed in Feb 17. I have been job searching, and I feel that I get declined for everything except residency programs. I am not sure if this is because I am a new grad, or that I don't have connections in South Carolina, or if there is something wrong with my resume. I am started to stress out a bit, I didn't think job searching as an RN would come up this fruitless.

In my part of the country, the ONLY pathway to employment in most hospitals is through a residency program. They simply do not do any "direct" hires any more because they want to ensure that all new grads are provided with a consistent level of support during those crucial first months of employment.

So - don't be insulted. It's a good thing.

So you are getting into residency programs? Most places want experience before getting a job. Take the residency.

If you're getting in to residency programs I'd take the job. When I was hunting for a new grad position I sought out hospitals that offered a residency program. Good luck on your hunt!!!

I did get a job as a float office RN, since I was applying to residency programs as well. I just got offered one in the ED. And now my husband says he might lose his job here and wants to move LOL. From one problem to the next.
