Hi all! I am an ADN student in North Carolina entering my final semester & will graduate in May 2017. My husband has recently been offered a new position within his company & we will be relocating to Florida. He will be covering an area from Daytona Beach to Orlando. I am looking for any helpful tips for the graduate residency programs in FL, as well as the best area for us to look for housing, if I am accepted into a program. Any and all info is greatly appreciated (average pay, competitiveness, nurse to pt ratios, best programs, etc.) This opportunity was very unexpexted & he will actually be moving in a few weeks while I remain in NC finishing school. Thank you all in advance!

You're going to have to be more specific regarding what area in Florida you're planning to move to...Orlando..Tampa..there are alot of different areas. As you know with Orlando it'll be plenty of congestion (tourists)..its a big city. Tampa is a big city as well with some sketchy areas as well. However, you can find that anywhere. What specific city were you planning to relocate to if you want to divulge that information.
If you go on Indeed and type in nursing residency programs in Florida there will be a bunch that pop up. The ones I'm familiar with will be HCA STARN, Florida Hospital, and Bayfront. You can loo up their requirements such as transcripts, GPA, and references. HCA hospitals can be pretty rough depending where you go when it comes to staffing but I've heard the same about Florida Hospital. Average pay is about 21-23$ in Florida for new registered nurses. I'm applying and in the process of a Florida Hospital internship and hoping to get interviewed. All of the hospitals have different deadlines with applications...you may submit before you even graduate for some of them. Do your research on the hospitals near you and only then can you make the choice for you. Good luck and have a happy last semester :).
Thank you! This helps a lot! :-)
