New Grad LPN, first interview

Published

I just had my first interview at an urgent care in WV. They assured met that they would like me to start training asap. They have not given me a pay rate yet and I thought it would be rude to ask because I have a mandatory orientation with the nursing manager where I will officially accept the job. The person that interviewed me was not a nurse but when reviewing how the urgent care staffing is she stated the radiology techs and MAs "function as nurses". Is that normal? I have 2 years EMT experience so all that I know is ER. I did not function as a paramedic or nurse working as an EMT. Also, how much should I be expecting per hour with 2 years EMT experience? Will the EMT experience be relevant?

I always ask what the pay is and about their health care plan. It may seem rude but do you really want to go all the way through the hiring process only to find out they only pay $14./hour. You have the right to know what your pay will be.

Also, make sure you know what shift you want and hold them to their promise. Some employers will throw you on the graveyard shift because, well, because they can.

WV pay can vary depending on location. What area of the state?
