New grad looking for a job

Published

Hello, I graduated and the end of june and just passed the NCLEX mid aug and have been applying everywhere but no luck. It seems like everytime I applied for summerlin and valley, my status says "not considering applicants" the following day. I dont know what is wrong and its really frustrating. Does anyone know of any New grad program coming up or a hospital that is willing to hire? It seems tough to find a job here.

Las Vegas is a tough market for new grads. Valley health does hire new grads. They run 6 hospitals here in in the valley. St Rose doesn't take new grads. HCA does...that is sunrise and mountain view. Check online or call HR maybe. Also... there is a hospital 2 hours northeast of here in southern Utah that hires lots of new grads. They are a great company to work for. I can give you more info if interested

Please that information will be really helpful. Seems like there isnt much for new grads currently at the valley hospitals.

Dixie regional medical center. Go to the job section. They have a new grad residency you can apply for. They are undergoing a major expansion and will be hiring several new nurses in the future .

Thank you very much for this information

I have literally moved to Henderson from California 3 weeks ago and have already found a job. We have no experience which is why we have to be open to other things rather than a hospital. I have applied to hospitals too of course, but I got a job at a Sub Acute facility. The DON told me that the new graduates get experience and get into a hospital much easier than with no experience. I suggest looking into a Sub Acute/Skilled Nursing facility and maybe in a year look into the hospital setting.

St. Rose definitely DOES take new grads, and has one of the longer and more instructive new grad internships in the Las Vegas valley.

ER, Oncology, Orthopedics, IMC, Surgery, and L&D all take new grads at St. Rose, although the number of positions and frequency of availability changes based on staffing needs.

Very infrequently, if at all.
