Help! I have two job offers on the table but I am unsure how to proceed:
job 1: LTC unit, 3-11 full time, 8 weeks orientations. Possibility of moving to sub-acute unit in future. New DON so I am mostly dealing with HR. I have already gone through most of the motions of accepting this job (for the last 3 weeks!) but I have not started yet. This is for a nationwide corporation so I am still waiting on my background check and reference.
job 2: short term rehab unit, 7-3 full time, slightly higher pay, unsure of orientation/mentor time but start date would be 8/11. Independent place so less corporate hassle to deal with. I have until Friday to notify the DON of my decision. When I originally applied they had no full time positions so I was very surprised to receive an offer letter in the mail and followed up with a call to DON to get more details.
This job negotiation process is anxiety provoking and if I do decide on job 2 how do I politely decline job 1? I know I am lucky to even have more than one offer as a new grad and would really like a fresh perspective from everyone. I should mention... I really have no idea what I want to specialize in for the future and I do enjoy working with elders so I did target rehab facilities in addition to hospitals when I was applying for jobs thinking it would be a good stepping stone for me.
