So I worked for a Hospice facility while I was in nursing school, for 1.5 years as a nurse apprentice, and then they lost their nurse apprentice program. I then was transfered to the admissions office and worked there for 8 months. I was let go during a large budget cut.. But my heart is still in hospice.
I graduated in May and sit for state boards July2nd. I have an interview this Friday (they know I only have my intermn permit)
This interview is with a different hospice company. Where I worked, I was in the inpatient facility. This place I am interviewing in doesn't have inpatient. They have homecare, and facility placement. I am nervous at what the difference is, excited to have an interview. I am wondering what kind of interview questions I should be prepared to answer?

Congratulations! I am a New Grad as well & I just started working Hospice. The questions I were asked in several interviews were like "Have you been exposed to death, if so how did you handle it?", "How would you handle a crisis?" The ever so favorite "Tell me about yourself," which I always kept this medical related. I had a couple questions regarding prioritization and organization. I would definitely ask about length of orientation, pt load initially & then when you become more experienced, if you're on call ever, & reimbursment for mileage.
Being in the field is completely different. You really have to be able to critically think, problem solve, & have great assessment skills. It's not like your able to easily grab another nurse for an opinion on somthing; even though, I am always able to get ahold of another nurse. I feel like I have much to learn still, but luckily I have a very supportive team. I wish you the best and good luck Friday.
