Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
hi guys! just became a member today, im really glad to find this site, its really helps me a lot
by the way i would just like to ask how can i apply for a work in Australia or in New Zealand?
I have no relatives in both countries, so I have no possible backers, my mom is in california and im currently on the process of being petitioned by my mother. but before I go there in california i would like to work and have a hospital experience first
its really depressing here in the Phil because you cant find any work, I've been trying for a month already but all of the hospitals are on freeze hiring, and some hospitals requires a backer before you will be entertained by their HR, its really annoying and disheartening, me being a fresh graduate, that's why I've decided to try working in other countries instead
can you pls help me how can I apply and land on nurse jobs in australia and new zealand?
thanks so much!
@isobelle
Yes just go there and you have to fill up 2 forms. If I remember it right, you can get those forms over there. You have to bring photocopies of your passport and probably your passport as well just to make sure. And they can assist you in the facility if you have any queries. But definitely, once you fill up the forms, they would know what you need. Also, bring pictures. I think it should be Australian passport size in white or gray background. I hope I am correct. I am just trying to recall what I did. Hope it helps.

Hi! :) I graduated last April 2009 and just started volunteer last month, October 2010. So I only have 1 month volunteer experience. I will be starting on my application for AHPRA since I read that a lot had a 3 months waiting time. Im still a little confused and still with hesitancy in applying, afraid if I make errors on my application and waste the money. Anyway, can anyone answer the following:
1. I only need to fill up AG0S-04 form and follow what is written there, right?
2. In question no. 12: I passed the NCLEX California. Should I place that as my recent registration? But I dont know what to place on Period of registration since I don't have the license due to lack of SSN.
3. Question 16: I should mark "NO" ? That's why we need IELTS?
4.When should I request IDP and PRC to send my certificates to APHRA? Is it after or before I mail my application to APRHA?
5. In the CV Im confused what to write in the BRIDGING PROGRAM/QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS and in the CLINICAL/PROCEDURAL SKILLS. What do they mean by "observed"
Thank you for answering my questions. It would be a very big help. And Im sorry if it's soo long.
hi everyone, its been a long while since i last visited allnurses... im currently having my clinical placement right now at John Fawkner Private Hospital at Coburg. My uni is Victorian College of Health and Nursing. Due to finish on December 10, 2010.
Does anyone know how long is the waiting period for registration after finishing the bridging program? Im under NBV, now AHPRA (Melbourne)...
I'm also into all-out job hunting right now... if you have any information as to job vacancies, please help me... :)
For those who have undergone the bp in VICTORIA, I would like to know where did you address your ACCEPTANCE INTO AN APPROVAL PROGRAM NOTIFICATION FORM?
At the bottom of the form it shows that the form should be submitted to NURSES BOARD OF VICTORIA ... but that was before they converted into the new board. Should I send this to :
Victoria
Postal Address
AHPRA
G.P.O. Box 9958
Melbourne VIC 3001
Office Location
Level 8, 111 Bourke Street
Melbourne VIC 3000
Where should I send this form? and when should this be sent to them? I hope you guys can help me :) thank you so much :)
I would also like to know .. what other preparations are you guys doing aside from visa application, medical and vaccines?what other stuff shoud I be doing before I depart for OZ? would appreciate your inputs.
Sincerely yours,
dumbfounded:D
dumb,
i sent the notification letter (NBV form) to the ahpra address u wrote above... that's correct... and actually, when will come here and start ur course, ur going to write them again saying that you have commenced your course... dont worry about that too much coz that would be fine...

anyway, good luck...

My suggestion to anyone who plans to apply for any bridging program is to do it yourself. Don't go with any agencies like ASNC from makati (owned by a certain *********), which has been rampantly advertising that they are able to send nurses to Australia and New Zealand. If you want to be cheated out of your money by paying double the costs of what you should be spending, then by all means sign up with them.
Thing is, by merely following the steps in AHPRA website and by just reading online, you will be able to work out everything in no time. You can always email and ring up the respective departments that you are applying with in Australia or New Zealand, and you might be surprised how helpful people are.
