New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

on that note we are somehow different.. coz Im a PR and company pays for almost all things.. the tuition is just too expensive. plus dont forget that im sending money to the Phils to support my siblings..

Awww, I still think you are the more fortunate one between the two of us. Hehehe! I do hope you get your LOE very very very soon! I just know the feeling! (I waited 8 longs months for mine, whew!)

I submitted my application to CON's BP on the last week of Nov-1st week of Dec (sorry can't remember the exact date). I lodged my application personally to their office and also paid on the same day. After a few days, I got my visa support letter. I wasn't able to quickly take action about my visa application since I needed to be outside Australia when I lodge my application for the 456 visa. So I waited till I got back home in the Philippines to apply for my visa.

Documents? Let's see, of course you need to have your LOE. In my case, I got my LOE from AHPRA NSW. The letter has 2 parts/documents. The first stating that you are eligible for registration upon the satisfactory completion of a bridging program. The second document is a letter addressed to the Director (or something) of the College of Nursing which is basically endorsing you to them. 2 other important documents when applying for the BP of CON are your IELTS results and vaccine checks. Here is the link to the vaccination thingy guidelines for CON: http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/resources/publichealth/immunisation/ohs/pdf/info_2_checklist.pdf

I chose CON because I was living in Sydney at that time. And I think the fees were a bit cheaper compared to other BP schools (not sure on this).

Hey, thanks for this! I'm going to make a note of it and keep it for reference.

So it still boils down to the LOE, eh? Haha.

Yep, the very elusive LOE! Grrrrrrrsss! lol!

I just took a peek at that link you gave me for the vaccinations. NYAR.

LOL.

'really? i so wish to be unemployed right now and be an australian resident ''

:hrnsmlys:

to be qualified for this benefit, you must be at least a permanent resident and been one for 2 years, before you get unemployment benefits.

lots of stories are made up about this and if you have a nursing qualification they can tell you to work even as a care assistant whether you like it or not and the benefits will cease. i heard someone telling a relative overseas that they were getting paid 1000 au a fortnight, which is not correct, it is 480.00 every two weeks and i also knew they where not getting it at all as a new arrival!

unfortunately some of our immigrants do go this path 2 years after getting pr, along with the equal number of australian born and the australian working tax payer on the average is very '**********' about paying for this.

having this type of welfare asked for laziness and australia having the highest tax in the world, also note if you are not a pr or citizen you will pay the highest tax possible if working and paying tax.

Yep, my working experience as an AIN was credited by AHPRA NSW. I think I read somewhere in the registration form guideline that any work which involves the application of nursing knowledge and skills will be credited (whether paid or not).

AHPRA considers nursing experience paid or not when working as an RN as stated in their application form. When one works as an AIN, one should never work outside these boundaries, it is illegal to do anything that only an RN would do, unless you are a Registered Nurse in Australia.

she on final approval already?

I'm not much sure.. maybe we can ask her.. @Pinoynars! are you there? :)

Hi guys! may I ask what email add you use to send inquiries to CON?

TIA!

gl25: Thanks for the heads up! :)

Anyway, After my post yesterday I received my visa support letter from CON just now.

Unfortunately it didn't include a specific date unlike ey-em's letter. So now I am worried. Any one have thoughts on the following:

(1) On the 456 form http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/456.pdf.

Question 1: Over what period do you wish to visit Australia?

What will I place?

(2) To all those who applied for this kind of visa? Have you included STATUTORY DECLARATION in your application?

(3) I am already unemployed and question 13 asks if I am EMPLOYED or SELF EMPLOYED. What should I place?

I know one forumer also asked this question last year, but I couldn't find the post already. hehe

Help please :)

1. I wrote 1 whole year on that item. I was originally aiming for the January intake so I wrote Jan 25 2012 to Jan 24 2013. I suggest just write a date close to the commencement date of your desired intake.

2. Yes, I did include a statutory declaration. Although I got it certified by a Justice of the Peace (JP) for free when I was still in Sydney. I have no idea where, how much and who could certify documents in the Philippines.

3. Sorry, can't help you with this one.

4. Travel insurance is optional. I personally didn't get one. lol!

4. I didnt include this info in the form although I secure an insurance right after I have my visa and plane ticket.

Hope this helps.
