Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hello everyone! i'm back..thanks to those who congratulated me before..i just want to know if someone here really experienced applying for a bridging visa while he/she is on a 456 visa? is that possible? i thought 456 visas always have a 'no further stay' condition and therefore you cannot apply for a new visa while you are in AU? is waiting for registration a valid reason for applicants to be granted a bridging visa? i really need to know..my cousin in Au wants me to get a student visa [because she said i can work, and that many acquaintance got there with a student visa, etc.,] but i am more concerned about the time and the cost..with 456 visa I will just have to submit the necessary documents, pay 4k something, and wait for 1-2 wks, but there's a risk that i'll have to go home after 3 mos..
how about you isobelle, what visa are you going to apply for? congrats by the way..ü
- generally any visa can be extended, student visa or 456 visa, it really just depends on your reasons and DIAC's decision.
- 456 does not always have "no further stay" condition, in fact on the original application form you will be asked if you prefer "multiple entry" or "single entry", multiple gives you flexibility of course... there are also student visa which have "no further stay", so it really dpends and you should check it out..
- you have a valid question... "is waiting for registration a valid reason" hope others could answer your question..
- extension of your 456 visa is different from a "bridging visa".. bridging visa is granted only when you have already applied for a visa, example if you are a student or a 456 visa holder and you have applied for 457 visa, then DIAC will grant you a bridging visa considering that your 456 visa will expire and your 457 visa has not yet been issued.. see the difference?... therefore if you want to stay longer in aus to wait for your registration then you apply for "extension" of your 456 visa (not apply for a bridging visa)..
good luck, pray for wisdom in order to make proper decision.. we can only help you much, decisions will be in your hands..
Thanks you so much for the reply! :-) I've been training for 2 months already and so many people have advised me to send my application already. Do you think I shud send my application already? Anyway, with the certification I just want to ask.. If I can have it certified by any lawyer? I have a friend who had his documents certified at the australian embassy and it cost him about 1-2k per document. He's still waiting for a reply. On the other hand I have another friend who had her documents certified by a lawyer. She ddnt even visit the australian embassy at all. She's also still waiting for her letter. I'm a bit lost with this. HELP, please?
one thing for sure, you will lose thousands of pesos if you certify your docus in aus embassy..
to cut the story short...... just follow what ive said (and which forumers here are doing), and that is... certified by a lawyer/notary public...
any lawyer/notary public will do (even if his Bar exam grade is 75%).. BUT my personal advice is to have it certified by a lawyer/notary public who has law partners/associates in the same office... i will not explain why, its a long explanation, anyway its just my personal advice.... also, the telephone number and address of the law office should be indicated because they may call the office (theoretically and randomly speaking, but this has not happened yet.)...
if today is August (prior Sept. 12, 2010), i would recommend you to send your application, yes.. but today is past Sep. 12 2010, if i say go ahead and apply and then AHPRA will issue new rules and you will be affected, you might blame me... AHPRA is currently evaluating its rules on overseas applications.. so nobody knows what will it issue, it might be favorable or unfavorable to you... so its a calculated gamble whether to send your application now or just wait for the new rules (if there are any).. it's your gut feel, prayer helps when making this decision.. hope you got my point..

1-2k per document? is this true? as in 1000pesos to 2000pesos per document? i can't believe it! i'm shocked! your friend must be very rich! i must be fortunate to have a mother who is a government employee, i had my documents certified in her office for free...!

yes, that is the normal price.. in philippine setting, that's equivalent to what we called "DFA red ribbon" which is more or less the same cost.. it pays to research and be a member of this forum, saves you a lot.. and advice are given free..
..and that is really kind and generous of you cioman94..as well as the others who take time to reply..thanks!ü
well, my parents and cousin have decided that i will lodge a student visa [they insist that i choose student visa]..good luck to me..i hope it will be processed before jan. i don't even have an offer from the school yet..i'll see what happens..
abhylicious: you can check out la trobe, mercy health, victorian college of health and nursing, university of ballarat, ETEA, robinvale, castlemaine, deakin university...there's actually a list of schools, but if you intend to enroll in 2012 then the list might change by that time..unadunad posted the intake of different schools [which was really helpful] but it's for 2011..
..we'll all be in AU in God's time..ü
