Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

HI everyone;
I have been accepted in LTU for its Jan 2012 intake, but I am quite interested in IHNA or AAON too. To those in the know, does IHNA have any hospital affiliations? I remember RYAN (Deakin) , who recommended to us in this thread last year to go for VCHN or ETEA. ETEA's price is out of my League. any inputs on this?

I would suggest you take the LTU slot. Aside from being a University (It's more prestigious and would be an advantage in your cv), it also has an early exit option. IHNA (formerly VCHN) doesn't have any. Secondly, you can apply for a student visa with your LTU course which allows you to stay in Aus 6 months compared to a 3 month stay on a 456 visa for your IHNA course. This student visa also allows you to work part time during the course's duration and full time after.
Hi for those with approved visas, how much show money did you have to include in your application to prove financial capability? Thank you and kind regards.
Depends on your personal circumstance actually. Apart from my show money, I had an Aus citizen cousin give me a letter of support with her and her husband's ITR to prove they can afford. I also included my previous passports (cert true copy) showing my travels abroad to other countries that also need travel visas. So, I just declared one half of the funds that my niece submitted last year. The embassy granted me a multiple entry 456 visa for 1 year.

how about AAON? any inputs? I am currently filling out the forms for AAON...don't know which schools to pick. On AAON's website, it states there they could help in Job placements (I think IHNA claims the same too). HHaaayz, this is really confusing, in a nice way:lol2:

Actually, AAON is an affiliate of Uni of Ballarat. So, in this sense, it is comparable to LTU. Just make sure that your bp hunting doesn't backfire. What I mean is, you might lose your slot at LTU when you won't confirm with them soon. You also have to take into consideration that it takes 6 to 8 weeks to process a student visa. 456 visa only takes 5 days. But I envy you that you have the luxury to choose...:lol2:

thank you Joiemike; i guess you are right. LTU is just right there for the taking,while if I wait for AAON, it will take weeks. Ok, I just needed someone to tell me. Thanks again ! Keep on posting...you have been very helpful to us here
Hi! Has anyone here applied for BP at IHNA? Can anyone give me an idea of their processing time frame? (how many days before they provide you with an offer letter and all that). :)
Usually after your phone interview, they will email you the letter of acceptance. After you sign the acceptance form and paid at least the enrolment fee, they will send you the receipt of payment and proof that you are enrolled for the BP. This could be different now than last March. But essentially, you apply for an intake, get interviewed, pay the fees and get enrolled.
Ask them if they have receipt of your documents and how soon can you be scheduled for an interview. The trick is to constantly get in touch with them. With heaps of applications lined up, they would take a long time to respond. So be persistent. Cheers mate!

hi! I suggest you take the LTU slot too! So we could be classmates. They emailed me yesterday following up my application because their January intake is filling up fast and there are only few slots left.
I was already interviewed by IHNA earlier. My God, they threw hard questions to me. I dont know if I am accepted in their institution for BP.. Since i didnt answer some of the questions well with regards to the different diseases of patients. Are there any instances that they wont accept you coz u messed up in their interview? And also, can you recommend GOOD schools which offers BP?
